Birthday reflections

I woke up yesterday totally not realizing that it was my birthday. A lot changes when you have a baby. I must, however, take a moment to reflect on how different my life is now than my life was one year ago. Last year I celebrated my big 3-0 Las Vegas-style. (Use your imagination.) This year I celebrated baby-style. And not just with my baby, with my cousin's two little girls too. Both years have their pros and cons, but I would never trade being a mommy to Emma for the world. For the first timepossibly everI feel my age. Maybe there will be another life-altering event someday that will make me actually act my age too. Probably not.

(Emma on my 31st birthday and her one month birthday.)

Emma had her one month pedi. appointment this morning. All is well. She's just under 11 pounds. She handled her first shot like a pro. The doctor said "she is feisty" and that's a good thing. Way to go.

Being old = not fun.
Being old and a parent = great!

The best birthday ever! Can't wait until Emma's old enough to have cake all over her face, and clothes, and floor...
