Eight weeks and growing

Having a baby is by far the hardest thing I've ever done. It brings new meaning to the word "constant" and I have never been so tired in my life. NEVER. Not even close. One of the hardest things is that Emma is just too young to show any kind of appreciation or affection or attachment. All she can do is eat, burp, sleep, poop, and cry...never appreciating the intense effort Andrew and I have been putting in to cater to her every need. Until recently, that is. Emma has finally learned how to smile! And I mean really smile, not just one of those reflex smiles. It's so much easier now to get up at 3:00 in the morning when I'm greeted by this bright-eyed, gummy-mouthed baby who just grins from ear to ear when she sees me bending over to pick her up. It is truly one of the most incredible experiences ever. So much more rewarding than I'd imagined.

Also this week, Emma has found her hands and is sucking on them constantly. It's really cute. And lastly...drum roll please...Emma weighed in at 13 pounds, 4 ounces at the hospital yesterday. Andrew is off to BJ's after work to return the size 1 diapers we JUST GOT for size 2. Out little girl is already growing up!
