Spring cleaning for baby

The nesting has officially begun in the Gershman household. Andrew and I went to town on the baby room this weekend. We started by cleaning out the closet. We had been using my old changing table/dresser for storage and it was time to clean it out and get some storage bins to use instead. So, the changing table's out and ready to use (unless we decided to refinish it) and the closet is neat and organized. Next, we got rid of a bunch of books on the built-in bookshelves. We freed up the two bottom shelves and all the storage underneath for baby toys and books. Then we rearranged the room a little, got rid of a dresser (replaced it with the changing table) and moved the bulky bed frame we'd had in there into our room to make more space for the baby. (We are keeping a queen bed in there for guests, just no frame. We're lucky to have so much space!) We also got our crib mattress, put up the valance, cleaned out our linen closet, and did a few other odd jobs. Nothing feels better than a little spring cleaning!

What's left to do? Well, we definitely need to decorate the walls. And perhaps refinish the changing table to match the rest of the room. I think we might even splurge on hiring professional carpet cleaners before the baby arrives. (And maybe hire house cleaners too? Please, Andrew?) Other than that, just a few odds and ends like install some cute moon & star knobs on the dresser. Oh yeah, and we still need to have the baby!

Lastly, we splurged on a few baby toys at T.J. Max this weekend. We just couldn't resist! I mean, the baby can't even use them until she's at least 2, but it's just so hard (too hard) to say no! They had a bunch of classic wooden toys by Melissa & Doug
so cool. We settled on some blocks and a peg & hammer set. Please. Someone. Help us. We're out of control!
