Look Mom, no hands!

I feel like a little kid who just learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. I've been nursing Lindsay for the last two weeks. Just nursing. And for anyone who knows my nursing journey (both with Lindsay and Emma), this is a really big deal. It's actually working. And every day I feel a little more confident and relaxed about the whole thing.

In hindsight, I wasted pretty much my whole maternity leave trying to nurse Emma. And I drove myself crazy doing it. Then, I was tied to the pump every 3 hours or so for the next ten months. Torture! Lindsay and I started off with some challenges too. She wasn't gaining enough weight in the first two weeks, so we had to supplement with whatever breast milk I could pump, and with some formula. That meant I had to get my supply up again (yes, more pumping) and then get back in sync with the baby. And, I did it!

Anyway, like I said, a major accomplishment for me. And now I feel free to go and do and enjoy the next six weeks of leave however I want to. No pump. No bottles. Until I have to go back to work that is... but I 'm not going to worry about that yet.

Hooray for Lindsay.  And hooray for little victories.
