Here are a few of the best things about our Easter weekend in Maine. (I could probably list 100.):
10. Annie's tears. I'm listing them first, because they're the least of my favorites -- it hurts my heart to see Annie sad. But, I also know that if we didn't love each other so much, and if we didn't have such a wonderful time visiting, the tears wouldn't exist. Annie, I'm so proud of you. You are an amazing little girl -- the sweetest and most caring I know. I love you. We all do.
9. The weather! Sunny, at last, and in the 70s. It doesn't get much better than that. Perfect for playing on swings, riding bikes, pulling wagons, and Easter softball games.
8. Googley-eyed towel animals and mints on our pillows. Katie, you are a wonderful and gracious hostess. Thank you for sharing your home and for making us feel comfortable and welcome.
7. Getting my butt kicked by Timmy at Mario Kart. Kicking Raph's butt at Mario Kart (kidding!). And knowing that at least I won't be in 12th place, because Katie has reserved that spot.
6. Seeing Emma learn to love Kaleigh. In 24 hours, she went from saying, "I don't like him" and wanting to be picked up, to patting her and inviting her upstairs to play. Woof!
5. Easter eggs! Decorating them and hunting for them. Fun! Did we ever find the last two eggs?
4. Bacon candy on a stick. A bacon lover's dream come true. Need I say more?
3. Homemade danishes. Raph, they were the most delicious I've ever tasted. (Note: I was going to lump "brunch" all into one, but the bacon and danishes were so yummy, they each deserve their own mention.)
2. Seeing Emma play with Annie and Timmy, a four-generation-long tradition of love and friendship.
1. The most precious Jewells in the world. Thank you Katie, Raph, Annie, and Timmy for a fun and happy weekend. We enjoyed every second we spent together. Happy Easter! We love you lots and miss you already!
