Walking and such

If I haven't said it already, one is so much fun. Emma learns something new every day, it seems, and is becoming quite the little person. Here's an update of what's she's up to.

Emma can...

* Walk. She's still very wobbly, but over the past weekend, walking became her mode of choice.

* Say the following words: hi, bye-bye (buh-buh), doggie (duh-dee), bah (meaning sheep), and daddy (dada). She can say other words like bottle (baba) and mommy (mama), but not without a little bit of prompting. Doggie, by the way, refers to anything that's furry with four legs -- bear, cat, etc.

* Tell you how old she is. When asked her age, she raises one finger.

* Point to the following body parts: head, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, ears, belly button. She can also point these parts out on others. When she points to her eye -- or yours -- she says "eye."

* Sign the following: eat, please, more. She will mimic other signs (milk, fish, etc.), but the first three she does when she hears the corresponding word.

* Eat regular food. We're just finishing up our last jars of baby food and our last can of formula. Some of her favorites are: waffles, eggs, cheese, turkey, mac & cheese, bananas, nectarines, plums, apple sauce, pasta, yogurt, chick peas, green peas, green beans, broccoli, avocado, and cheerios.

* Shake her head "no." When we say "don't touch" or "get down," she shakes her head. This doesn't necessarily stop the naughty behavior, but she'll figure it out eventually, right?

Anyway, that's the latest and greatest. Oh, and she just had her one-year check-up with the pediatrician. All is well. She's a whopping 25 lbs. 6 oz. and 32 inches long. That puts her in the 95th and 98th percentiles -- way to go, Emma!
