- Emma can wave.
- I already posted about her clapping. But now, since she knows it makes us excited, she waves when we ask her to clap. Hopefully she'll be able to differentiate between the two soon.
- Emma has two teeth! Barely. I just noticed the second one today. It's her two bottom front teeth.
- Emma can sit on her own indefinitely, without the Boppy.
- She's very close to crawling (lunges forward onto all fours) and even closer to figuring out how to go from her tummy to a sitting position.
- She keeps trying to climb on Andrew and me and pull herself up on things.
- Even though she's not crawling, she is very mobile. She can get anywhere or anything she wants by rolling and wiggling. She's pretty creative.
- She loves to play peek-a-boo. Sometimes we hide behind a wall or a door and other times we put a cloth on her head that she pulls off by herself.
- She loves "touch and feel" books and knows exactly where to touch with her one little index finger. (So cute.)
- She knows to shake her rattles when we tell her to "shake it" (like a Polaroid picture...).
- She has her own version of blowing raspberries that sounds more like a "bfffftt" sound.
- She's gone through just about all the stage 2 fruits and veggies and is getting pretty good at finger foods like Gerber puffs, rice crackers, and banana pieces. Her pincer grip is definitely coming a along. She also tried yogurt for the first time and like it.
- She prefers real cups over sippy cups. (She needs guidance, of course, but so far she'll only chew on sippy cups.)
- She wore her first ponytail at daycare. One of the workers put it in her hair.
In just a few weeks, Emma will be nine months old. She will officially have been alive longer outside my belly than inside my belly. I can't believe it. And before I know it, it'll be time to start thinking about her first birthday. Yikes! So, I'm trying to hang on to the whole "baby" thing for as long as I can. Even though Emma is perfectly capable of falling asleep on her own in her crib, I keep rocking her to sleep. Just because I can. It makes me happy. And because before I know it, she'll be all grown up. I'm probably creating some bad habits or something, but I don't care. As long as she feels safe and loved, spoiling her a little can't hurt that much.
