Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go...

It’s 9:06 a.m. and I’m already sitting at my desk with my lunch in the fridge, my water bottle filled, and a cup of hot coffee in hand. (Hard at work, as usual.) Emma has been dropped of safely at daycare with bottles (forgotten yesterday) and I’m assuming Andrew has already arrived safely at work. I showered this morning and remembered to brush my teeth and put on deodorant. I am also fully dressed with clean clothes. It is truly a miracle. You moms out there know what I mean. You moms-to-be will know all too soon.

Good things about yesterday (my first day back):

  • I didn’t cry throughout the entire train ride, just parts of it.
  • We remembered the forgotten bottles before we left Busy Bee (as opposed to getting all the way to work before realizing they were missing).
  • My awesome friends/coworkers welcomed me with flowers and a lunch date. (Pink flowers, of course. Thanks, Anne!)
  • The pumping at work thing isn't so bad--yet.
  • The day flew by. (I’m sure that won’t last for long…)
  • I had a free cup of coffee.
  • Emma made it home safely and had a pretty good evening.

Not so good things about yesterday:

  • It was torture to not be with Emma every second of the day and to not be in complete control of her safety and happiness.
  • It only took about three seconds before my hatred of public transportation was rekindled.
  • Emma was really cranky when I picked her up from daycare. (Not the smiley welcome I'd hoped for.)
  • We forgot the bottles (empty this time) again.
  • It was totally exhausting!

And TGIT (thank God it's Tuesday). I don’t have to come into the office tomorrow. Hooray! We can do this. We are doing this. As you can see, the good outweighed the bad yesterday. Let's hope it stays that way.

p.s. I miss her. *sigh.*

Congrats Amy! Sometimes I am envious of you working Moms. I love being a stay at home Mom, but I think I am going nuts at the same time... and I'm not joking!
