"What color do you want?"
"Pink!" I said. "Pink, pink, pink!"

Yesterday, two weeks after we were originally supposed to find out, the ultrasound technician typed the word "girl" on the sonogram screen. Another girl! My girls. My two daughters. How wonderful do those words sound? Andrew and I are thrilled. It's really starting to sink in that this is happening. Knowing the baby's sex just makes it so much more real.
So, Andrew and I picked up Emma on our way home and told her the news. Did she jump up and down with joy? Not our Emma. She said: "But I want to be the sister!" I guess she thought that being a sister required having a brother. Or, knowing Emma, she wanted to be the one and only sister. Anyway, once we explained to her that she would still be a sister — in fact, the BIG sister — she was happy. Funny little girl.
What's so great about having another girl? Lots of things. We don't have to buy one single article of clothing. Probably EVER. The girls can share toys. The girls can share a room. (A big concern since our two main bedrooms are both upstairs.) And, well, we know what to do with a girl. I don't think I've changed a baby boy's diaper since Andre. Or Tommy? Or ever?
So, there you have it. We finally know. It's a girl. And most importantly, a healthy one.
