Healthy Emma and thank you, Sarah

Yes, you guessed it. Emma's been sick again. We knew something was up when she fell asleep super early on Wednesday night and had a low-grade fever. Her temperature spiked all the way up to 104.1 on Thursday and was still high on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday morning it was bizarrely low, all the way down to about 93-94. She's been to the see her pediatrician each day, had to give a urine sample (via catheter!), and made a trip to the hospital for some blood work (so not fun!). At first it looked like some kind of bacterial infection, so she's on an antibiotic. Yesterday, after more blood work, it looked more like a virus. She seems much better today, despite an upset stomach from the antibiotic. Her temp finally seems to be under control, she's much more comfortable, and she's in much better spirits. Thank goodness! Fevers are really scary an it was sad to see Emma acting so lethargic. I am more than ready for a HEALTHY summer...

And now for a shout out to my awesome friend Sarah. Sarah, you rule! I posted a while back about replacing Emma's Avent bottles with BPA-free Born Free bottles which cost a pretty good chunk of change. I know, I know, when it comes to safety, money isn't an issue. But Andrew and I couldn't help but to cringe at the money it felt like we were just throwing out the window. You may be thinking, "Hey, it's only a few bottles." But we'd already gone through two sizes of bottles, three stages of nipples, plus breast pump conversion kits, storage containers, etc. all made by Avent. Well, thanks to a tip from Sarah, we learned that Babies 'R Us is taking back used polycarbonate bottles and bottle accessories at full-price for store credit. Hallelujah! I think I called them about half a dozen times to ask them if they were serious. Used bottles? With Emma's name on them? With no packaging or receipt? Wow. Well, they stood by their word. We packed everything up yesterday, Andrew made the return, and we pretty much broke even. Awesome! Of course we already spent the credit on diapers, baby food, new pacifiers, etc. But hey, that was just money we would have shelled out anyway. So, thank you very much for the tip, Sarah. You made our bottle transition much more pleasant and economical.
